Mike Parkin graduated from Birmingham University in 1993 with a degree in Economics, after which he joined a small hydraulics firm as a trainee accountant.

After three years of training and qualifying as a Chartered Management Accountant he became Group Accountant of a civil engineering company.

He moved on to become Financial Controller of Wirral Metropolitan College and then worked for North Wales Newspapers, before becoming Director of Finance and Resources of a social housing provider.

Under his financial stewardship the Group grew from a £24m turnover to a £40m turnover in three years, reducing overheads to make the organisation the third ranking provider in the Government’s operating cost index for supported housing organisations.

He joined North Wales Police in 2007.

The Director of Finance and Resources is responsible for Legal Services and Business Services, including Finance, People Services Group, Information Management, Facilities, Fleet and Procurement.

On a national level he is Treasurer for the Chief Police Officers’ Association (CPOSA).
