Director of Finance and Resources
Mike Parkin graduated from Birmingham
University in 1993 with a degree in Economics, after which he
joined a small hydraulics firm as a trainee accountant.
After three years of training and qualifying as a Chartered
Management Accountant he became Group Accountant of a civil
engineering company.
He moved on to become Financial Controller of Wirral
Metropolitan College and then worked for North Wales Newspapers,
before becoming Director of Finance and Resources of a social
housing provider.
Under his financial stewardship the Group grew from a £24m
turnover to a £40m turnover in three years, reducing overheads to
make the organisation the third ranking provider in the
Government’s operating cost index for supported housing
organisations.
He joined North Wales Police in 2007.
Responsibilities
The Director of Finance and Resources is responsible for Legal
Services and Business Services, including Finance, People Services
Group, Information Management, Facilities, Fleet and
Procurement.
On a national level he is Treasurer for the Chief Police
Officers’ Association (CPOSA).
