What is Hate Crime?

A Hate Crime is any Hate Incident (see below) which constitutes a criminal offence and is perceived by the victim, or any other person, as being motivated by prejudice or hate.

All hate incidents should be reported so that the Police can use the information to identify trouble spots and prevent the problem getting worse.

By tackling this type of crime together we hope to make North Wales a safer place to live.

 

Reporting Hate Crime

We have two ways for people to report hate crime without visiting a police station or talking to a member of police staff.

 

• Submit a Hate Crime Reporting Form to North Wales Police

  This form is designed to help the police and other agencies respond to crimes or incidents which are perceived to be motivated by hate or prejudice. Any information provided by you will be treated in strict confidence. The information you provide will be placed on computer and protected by provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.
  

• Visit the Safer Wales website, and complete their Hate Crime Reporting Form

  Saferwales enables anonymous and third party reporting of hate crime without you having to contact the police directly.  Saferwales will only pass on the information you authorise.

 

REMEMBER: if it is a life threatening emergency call 999 or, when it is less urgent, call 101 from within Wales.
