Retention of offence information
The legislation relating to the retention of
offence information held and disclosed by the Police for vetting
purposes has changed.
Any conviction which was previously ‘stepped
down’ will now be shown on your PNC disclosure regardless of the
nature of the offence, or how old it is. This is the result of a
Judgement made on 19th October 2009 and means that all convictions,
cautions, reprimands and final warnings will be retained on the
Police National Computer (PNC) until you are 100 years of
age.
The information will be routinely disclosed to
the disclosure agencies (for example the Criminal Records
Bureau).
