Eighteen arrested in operationphoto of officer using radio

Eighteen people were arrested yesterday (Wednesday, January 25) in an impact day held across the Denbighshire coastal and Abergele area.

 

From 7am in the morning until late last night, police officers were involved in Operation Apollo which was led by local District Inspector Jason Devonport. One of the main aims of the impact day was to arrest individuals suspected of committing offences.

 

Warrants were also executed under both the Theft Act and the Misuse of Drugs Act.

 

“A total of 48 officers were involved in the day’s activities – including members of the local Neighbourhood Policing Teams, CID, roads policing and members of the dog section,” said Insp Devonport. “ANPR was also used which resulted in two vehicles being seized and a person being arrested on suspicion of the Unauthorised Taking of a Motor Vehicle.”

 

He added: “This is the first impact day I’ve held since I was recently appointed Inspector for the area and it demonstrates the positive action that we will take to tackle crime head on.”

 

As a result of the day, 18 individuals – both men and women- were arrested and were taken to St Asaph custody.

 

Of those arrested:

 

  • A 44-year-old man was charged with theft
  • A  21-year-old woman was charged with two counts of assault
  • A 22-year-old man was charged with criminal damage
  • A 23-year-old man was charged attempt theft, S39 assault and criminal damage
  • A 38-year-old man was charged with four counts of theft and a S39 assault.
  • A youth was charged with S39 assault. He was released on police bail pending further inquiries in relation to being arrested on suspicion of a criminal damage
  • A 23-year-old man was charged with burglary dwelling
  • A 39-year-old man was charged with possession of cannabis
  • A 29-year-old man was charged with two counts of criminal damage
  • A 25-year-old man was charged with drive otherwise in accordance and no insurance

 

Furthermore, three individuals arrested have now all been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Two women received a caution for possessing cannabis and no further action was taken against four individuals arrested.

A 26-year-old was arrested for affray

A 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of affray.
