Farm Watch to start in south Gwynedd
07/01/2013
NFU Cymru and North Wales Police have teamed
up to help make local farms and the farming communities safer in
rural south Gwynedd.
Utilising “OWL” - an On-line Watch Link, NFU
Cymru and the local Police hope to create a network of local
farms in the community to help prevent and detect crime and provide
instant support and information about what is going on in the
immediate area.
Local PCSO Leanne Rowlands at Porthmadog Police station said, “It’s
all about local farmers communicating with each other and with the
Police at the time they have concerns and for the timely sharing of
any suspicious activity or individuals in their area. It has
proved a great success in other areas and I have no doubt if we can
get the community involved it will be a success here too.”
The scheme, which is free to join, is dependant on members
having on-line access and signing up to receive and pass on
relevant information.
