Special awards
16/11/2012
North Wales Police will host this year’s All
Wales Special Awards.
The third All Wales Special Constabulary
Regional Awards Ceremony is being held in Soughton Hall, Northop,
this Sunday, November 18th.
And for the first time this year British
Transport Police are involved in the ceremony.
Gareth Pritchard, Assistant Chief Constable of
North Wales Police, said: “The Special Constabulary has a long and
proud history of policing since the first legislation relating to
Special Constables was enacted in 1831. Clearly much has changed
since that time.”
“The continued development of the Special
Constabulary is a crucial part of ensuring the future success of
policing and never has this been more important than in today’s
society.”
He added: “The awards acknowledge the immense
contribution of the Special Constabulary across Wales and all the
Welsh forces are greatly appreciative of the work undertaken by
Special Constables.”
“It is a great pleasure to present awards to
those who have gone the extra mile to serve their community.”
The four Welsh Forces and the British
Transport Police held their own, in-force panels at which
nominations were selected to go forward and be considered as
overall winners for the two awards that will be presented on
Sunday.
