Wakestock Festival Pwllheli 2012
05/07/2012
Organisers at this years Wakestock Festival in
Pwllheli which runs between Friday 6th and Sunday
8th July are preparing for potential traffic
management issues by introducing a park and ride to ease car parks
on site and dilute the amount of traffic in the immediate
surrounding areas.
Bex Tappin Wakestock Public Relations officer
said “The build up of the festival is progressing well and
on schedule at Wakestock. Like the rest of the country the
site has received a significant amount of rainfall over the past
few months and weeks. Due to this the car parking fields are
fairly soft and this may cause some difficulty when driving on or
off the site.
“Wakestock has therefore arranged a
park and ride location at Pwllheli Marina in the Yacht Club car
park where festival goers can park up and meet the shuttle bus
service which drops off right at the festival entrance. The shuttle
buses run on a continuous loop between Pwllheli Maes, the Yacht
Club and the Wakestock Festival site at Pen Rhos. This facility is
also available for people dropping off and picking up festival
goers. The car parks at the festival site will be open but it
is recommended that car users use the park and ride as an
alternative to avoid potential delays.”
North Wales Police are supporting and
encouraging use of the park and ride Inspector Dewi Jones adding “
It is hoped this will not only ease access for festival goers to
and from the site but also the local community and other roads
users who are going about their daily business. The weather
will obviously have an effect on the site making progress in and
out of car parks slower than normal so I’d just ask for a little
patience and factor in just a little bit longer getting out if
assistance is required by some motorists. And with the
weather in mind I’d also advise suitable and appropriate clothing
for the conditions”
