PoliceWhat does this mean?

North Wales experiences a relatively low crime and disorder rate as well as a reduction in the number of people killed or seriously injured on the roads. Building on this solid foundation, we are constantly improving our services to achieve:

Less Crime
Less Disorder
Less fear of crime
Safer roads
How will we do that?

REASSURANCE
North Wales Police has one of the highest percentages of visible uniformed Officers compared to other Police Forces in England and Wales. Community Beat Managers, working in partnership with local communities, will devote their time and energy to listening to the needs and concerns of local people.

RESPONSE
Working to increase our response capability we have improved driver training, introduced a network of 'area cars' and extended the hours of operation for the Force Air Support Unit. In addition, there are specialist teams working 24-hours a day to deal with serious incidents.

ACCESSIBILITY
We are making it easier for people to access our services by reviewing police buildings and introducing mobile stations equipped with the latest technology. We are making significant improvements to the way we deal with non-urgent telephone calls and will soon be providing access to services over the internet.

PROBLEM SOLVING
Effective problem solving is the key to reducing levels of crime, misuse of drugs, disorder and serious collisions. The Force has therefore invested in training for Officers in problem-orientated policing, providing long-term solutions rather than quick fixes.

A PARTNERSHIP APPROACH
Other organisations clearly have a key role to play in solving the underlying problems that lead to crime and disorder. The Force has therefore adopted a partnership approach in a number of initiatives that will achieve significant improvements over time. Work is underway that focuses on the needs of vulnerable people, ethnic minority communities and drugs related crime.
