Your Local Priorities

Speeding vehicles around Ernest Street, Ffordd Las, Victoria Road areas of the ward.
The most recent community meeting on 28th January 2009, highlighted problems with speeding motorists in the above areas. This was particulary prevailant during the school run hours. Action plan created to focus on this issue, using preventative methods such as speed enforcement cameras and educational literature to deliver the message across.

Update
This plan was created on 02/02/2010. Please check back regularly for updates. Updates to follow in due course. The neighbourhood policing team are continuing to monitor the speed of vehicles in the south west ward, The Go Safe team are also continuing to monitor the area with the mobile speed van. Days have been spent with the mobile speed unit recently. This seems to have had a positive reaction. At the recent Comminuty Meeting the issue of speeding was not brought up. During patrols speeding issues have been monitored and further plans for the mobile speed unit are in place. PCSO Phil Roberts has spent days on the ward with our mobile speed monitoring unit. This had a postive impact on the day and we continue to monitor the issue of speeding within the ward. During the recent Community Meeting the subject of speeding was not raised, however we do still continue to monitor the issue.

Persistant issues of dog fouling on the South West ward.
During the recent community meeting held on the 28th January 2009, a number of dog fouling issues were highlighted. These principally were along Ffordd Las and Marsh Road areas of the ward. The plan will focus on both education and enforcement, through the distributing of leaflets in the area and ticketing patrols undertatken at various times of the day. On the 1st February, and as a concequence of the action plan, cctv identified three offending dog owners who allowed their dogs to deficate in the Ffordd Las playing fields. All these owners have been located and Fixed Penalty tickets issued. Signage for Ffordd Las playing fields has also been requested from the Denbighshire County Council enforcement department.

Further updates to follow in due course The neighbourhood policing team are continuing to monitor the area for dog fouling offences, leaflets informing poeple of the fines for letting dogs foul were posted in the South west of Rhyl on 31/03/10. 04/04/2010 - 3000 leafets have been received informing the general public of the fines for dog fouling and also the medical issues it has to humans. To date half of the main target areas have been leaflet dropped by myself PC 2554 Ball and PCSO 2866 Roberts. These leaflets have also been given to the DCC wardens at the bird sanctuary to place in the 18 notice boards they have. Communities First have been provided with some as they also have a number of notice boards around the community. So far the message is getting around. We intend to continue the leaflet drop in other areas on the ward. 01/05/2010 - The Rhyl South West team are continuing with the distribution of the dog fouling leafets and also regular foot patrols. At the recent Community Meeting a number of persons present confirmed that they had received the leaflets and were pleased with the work we were doing. During foot patrols our work has been noticed and the areas especially near Walford Avenue seemed much better. During recent foot patrols it was noted that the hot spot areas on the ward had improved a great deal. Posters have also been placed onto telegraph poles in the hot spot areas some of which we have noticed have been taken down (by who we do not know). Dog fouling will always be an on-going issue and even though it is not soley the responsibility of the Police we will do everything we can to improve it. 28/06/2010 - During recent foot patrol of the ward dog fouling bags were offered out to responsible dog owners. Photos were taken of this and will be provided at the next Community Meeting on Thursday 1st July 2010 6pm at the Oaktree Centre, Ffordd Las. With all the work carried out regarding this issue on the ward we have noticed a great improvement. During the recent Community Meeting the issue of Dog Fouling was not raised, however we do still continue to monitor the issue when out on patrol.
