Police in Deeside have obtained a closure order on a crackhouse on North Street in Shotton.
Officers working in partnership with Flintshire County Council attended Mold Magistrates Court today ( Tuesday 4th December ) where the order was granted.
This has resulted in the house being closed down and boarded up for a minimum of three months until March 2008. It is now an offence for anyone to enter or use the premises under the Antisocial Behaviour Act 2003.
District Inspector Darren Wareing said: “The premises has now been closed following an operation by officers, which resulted in drugs warrants being executed. The warrants resulted in arrests and the seizure of Class A drugs.”
“This, coupled with anti-social behaviour in the area relating to the premises, resulted in the closure order being supported by Magistrates today.”
“I would personally like to thank the local residents for their co-operation which helped secure this order. Drug-related anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated by the police and local community, and I would urge anyone that may have information regarding drug crime contact us immediately.”
Anyone with information in relation to drug-related crime should contact North Wales Police on 0845 607 1001 ( Welsh Language Line ) 0845 607 1002 ( English Language Line ) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Notes:
The closure order was made under Section 2 of the Anti Social Behaviour Act 2003 whereby magistrates are empowered to issue the order when they are satisfied that the premises in question is being used in connection with the use of Class A drugs, and that the property is associated with serious disorder and nuisance.
