Anti Social Behaviour in Whitegate area.

Summary of Issue:
Residents have reported incidents of anti-social behaviour in the Whitegate area.

 

Updates:

Incidents of ASB in the area of Pentre gwyn & Tan Y Coed have been brought to my attention and I am dealing with this situation. If you have any concerns regards to this PCSO Michelle Knox would be pleased to receive calls from you.

Dog Fouling

Summary of Issue:
According to recent surveys the waste left behind by dogs is the single biggest environmental concern that people have about their local area. The overwhelming majority of people (95% of those questioned) find dog waste unacceptable. Dog waste is not only an extremely unpleasant and unwelcome commodity it is also the perfect breeding ground for bacteria (Campylobacter and Salmonella) and other forms of infection. The most damaging of these is caused by the roundworm Toxocara canis. The eggs of this parasite are present in much dog waste and although initially not infectious, once the eggs hatch they pose serious health risks to any individual unlucky enough to ingest infected soil. The effects of Toxocariasis range from mild flu like symptoms that often go undiagnosed to a more worrying form that affects the eye and can lead to permanent blindness. The risks to health from Toxocara infection can be limited by always washing your hands after coming into contact with any soil and ensuring that dogs are wormed regularly, particularly puppies and lactating bitches.

 

Updates:

Over the last few months officers from the Caia Park N.P.T have carried out an operation over the last few months to target dog fouling and £80 fixed penalty tickets were issued where appropriate. Local officers will work in partnership with officers of the local authority to ensure that in areas that have been identified as a problem enforcement and education strategies are completed. Foot patrol being carried out in areas of concern and tickets issued when possible.

High visibility patrols.

Summary of Issue:
Residents have requested more high visibility foot patrols in the area. The community recognise the importance for a visible police presence on the streets of the Ward. Uniformed patrol of the streets and providing opportunities for the community to access their local CBM & PCSO at regular times is important in the development of trust and confidence.
