Today saw the launch of the SmartWater system in Tan-Y-Marian School.
Each smart water kit contains a unique genetic code that links the marked items to a particular home or business. SmartWater is odourless and colourless and because it only works under UV light, it can be used to mark any property from jewellery to computers.
SmartWater is non-hazardous and comes in different forms – it can spray a person or can be transferred via SmartWater marked property.
Once an offender is sprayed or marked with SmartWater it remains on skin for weeks and on clothes indefinitely, and doesn’t wash off. Although not visible, once it goes under a UV light the solution can be seen. Not only does North Wales Police see SmartWater as a means to identify offenders and recover stolen property but also as a means to take forward the message that the Police are committed to reducing the fear of crime in local communities and will seek out the most effective tools to do so.
So any would be thieves – BEWARE………………..
