Deeside Community Focus

Welcome to the new community site for the Deeside area.

This mini site, just for Deeside will be used to keep you informed, engage in debate and will allow us all to share information.

It is very important to us to use this new communication tool to its fullest, more importantly though we need YOUR interaction. Please sign up to the community forums and feel free to engage in debate and to get involved.  As the forums mature and more people including our partners in the area get involved we will be able to take forward peoples views so that they can influence the development of policing in Deeside.

Keep an eye on our local initiatives and action plans, they will let you know what we are currently working on and will keep you up to date with results.

For those of you not from Deeside, this will give you a flavour of the policing area:

The Deeside Policing area comprises the Gateway to Wales and is the location of all major thoroughfares into North East Wales from the North West. At present the main A550 Expressway joining the M56 to the North Wales Coast is subject of major investment and reconfiguration. Upon completion the Expressway will seamlessly join the M56 to the A55 to all the arterial roads to Merseyside and beyond. This will make the area of Flintshire an extremely attractive location for both commuters to the North West and businesses alike.

The Deeside Industrial Estate is one of the largest in the region and has enjoyed recent investment from the European Union and the Welsh Assembly Government.

The eleven wards are represented by 16 County Councillors. The wards also have representation at town and community level. There are five Town and Community Councils covering the Deeside area, which are Connahs Quay, Hawarden, Queensferry, Sealand and Shotton Within the Deeside Area there is one Communities First Area which encompasses the Higher Shotton area.  There are also two Dyna Ddigon areas in these are Sealand Manor and Red Hall.

In Deeside there is a dedicated Community Policing team headed by one Sergeant. The team is comprised of eight Community Beat Managers assisted by three Police Community Support Officers. One of these posts is financed in partnership with businesses located on the Deeside Industrial Estate. Such funding has also brought about the existence of a locally placed TPI which can be found on Zone One of the Estate.

There are a large amount of local amenities in the area which include an Ice rink, two sports centres, swimming baths and an athletic stadium. These amenities are frequented by large numbers which seasonally alter.
