Thursday November 19th saw the switching on of the Christmas lights in Rhyl. A lot of hard work went in to the organising of the event by Sian Davies, head of leisure events at Denbighshire County Council. However, nobody could have forseen the extreme weather conditions that we have faced over the last 72 hours which resulted in continuous driving rain and gale force winds. As a concequence and for obvious Health and Safety reasons plans were altered with the celebrity Stavros Flatley being forced indoors to the Town Hall and the entertainers taking refuge in the White Rose centre.
Although a number of people were naturally dissapointed, including Sian and her team, there was little that could of been done and all those involved did the best they could in horrendous conditions.
The photo's below show PCSO Carly Bennion and PCSO Ivan Nattrass braving the elements and entering into the spirit of things!!
