North Denbighshire Community Focus

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity of introducing myself to you as the newly appointed Inspector for the North Denbighshire Policing area.
I have served with North Wales Police for over 16 years and have worked in all the 3 x Basic Command Units i.e Eastern/Central and Western.
The majority of my service has however been spent in the Central Division and primarily in Rhyl. I have been on CID since 1996 to date and worked as a Detective Constable,Detective Sergeant and Detective Inspector in this period. This has afforded me a great deal of experience in the investigation of serious and series crime and the opportunity to be involved in many of the more high profile cases that have been investigated in the area.
I have now moved roles in order to enhance my policing skills and provide lateral career development but feel that I have a huge amount to offer the North Denbighshire community in the prevention, detection and reduction of crimes and the continued development of Neighbourhood Policing in this area.
There have been some significant positive steps made year to date compared to the previous year in North Denbighshire with recorded crimes of Violence Against the person down by 8%, offences of Robbery down by 40%,and Vehicle Interference down by a massive 46%.
The major change in recorded crime has been seen in the arena of Drugs. This has seen an increase of over 100%the number of arrests made and detections for Possession/Supply of Controlled drugs however that is solely down to the huge efforts of the officers in the District by targeting those involved in the unlawful supply and use of illicit substances and importantly is directly linked to influence from the public wishing such action. This stance will continue with new and innovative tactics being planned and deployed for those who are engaged in such criminality.
Crimestoppers(0800 555 111) can still however be utilised and remains an option that I would encourage you the public to use .
My main aims and objectives will be to enhance the positive work that has been made in the area and to continue to work alongside the partnership agencies in making North Denbighshire a safer place to live, work and visit to the benefit of everyone.
This will importantly encompass more members of the policing family being out there on the streets, at the times you want them and where you the public want them.
The public do have the opportunity to influence policing in their areas and I would encourage them to either attend their community meetings or make contact with their local Community Beat Managers or Police Community Support officers to raise any issues and this can be done either in person, by telephone or via the intranet accessing the North Wales Police web site.
I am really looking forward to the challenges this new posting brings and I will be maintaining a blog on this web site to keep you appraised of any pertinent issues and look forward to getting out and meeting you in the near future,
Steve Williams
