North Flintshire Community Focus
The North Flintshire Policing district lies at the North West Tip of North Wales bordering the county of Denbighshire to the West, and has Merseyside to its North on the opposite bank of the River Dee Estuary. The district is a mixture of rural and urban areas consisting of 20 council wards with many distinct communities living in a variety of villages such as Caerwys but, the main population centres are the towns of Holywell and Flint. Even though very rural in parts, North Flintshire has excellent communication links, with easy access to the A55 Trunk Road and motorway network; particularly the M53 and M56.
With a population in excess of 46,500, it is home to a large proportion of the North Wales population. The western end of the district has a number of caravan parks which often fill to capacity during the summer months. This can swell the population to in excess of 57,000 people. The largest camp is Presthaven Sands which often fills to its capacity of 10,000 people.
There are a number of business parks in the area with numerous small businesses such as Deeside Furniture and Kingspan. The most significant business is Warwick International who produces chemicals at their premises in Mostyn.
