Training

A National Training programme is in operation and consists of weekend, weekday and evening training sessions. There will be continuous ‘on-the-job' training and supervision.

Each individual will embark on a comprehensive training programme and will benefit from learning and developing a wide range of skills including professionalism, decision making, working with others and service delivery. Your employer will also benefit from the training you receive.

Mandatory Training

Special Constables are expected to keep their knowledge and skills up to date and therefore are required to attend further mandatory courses/refresher courses during their service:

  • Diversity
  • Personal Development Review
  • Personal Safety
  • First Aid

Developmental Training

Special Constables are expected to keep their knowledge and skills up to date and therefore are required to attend further developmental training as and when required. Special Constables are also able to request specific training in areas they may be of interest or benefit to them during their service.
