Custody Procedures - Advice and Support
This section provides information in relation to processes with people in police custody.
When an individual is arrested it represents a necessary step by the police to address a legal obligation under their public duty. Generally this will be in relation to an offence under investigation, where procedures are structured under law and policy.
The subheadings displayed to the left provide an overview of such procedures along with potential avenues of advice or support where applicable.
The information is not exclusively for someone who has been in police custody, but for anyone linked to a person who has been arrested; whether they are victims, witnesses, friends, family or someone suffering in silence.
