Amount Requested: £2,500.00

Project Outline:

The aim of 'building resilience in communities' is very key to our project. We are very aware that vulnerable people, especially young people, fall prey to exploitation when they have no support in their families and the wider communities.

Our project will provide a 'safe place' where people feel they can express their fears and worries and will be heard. We are also very aware that we are not able to mend everyone and their circumstances but we are willing to walk with people and be an encouragement to them in making good choices.

Many of the young people we engage who have gone on to have and hold onto responsible jobs. In talking to some of the young people who visited our project regularly they shared how vital it is to have a safe place with safe people and it had made a huge difference in their lives. We realise that by having contact with younger people we can more effectively have input into their positive life choice changes.

Applicant: Kind Bay Initiative
Title: KBI Sunday Events
Area: Conwy
Amount Requested: £2,500.00

Project Outline:

Our project will provide a sanctuary for homeless people once a week on Sundays providing them with advice and being able to signpost our clientele to the relevant agencies which may be able to help them get accommodation and access to other essential services. By providing our clientele with food, clothes, tents and sleeping bags etc we hope to reduce instances of anti-social behaviour and shop lifting whereby people feel the need to steal or beg in order to survive on the streets.

In the six months since we have been operating our events are very well attended and also have the advantage of bringing all aspects of the community together whether in a volunteering role or as attendees. At times some of our attendees have been very distressed as a result of having their tents and sleeping bags damaged and destroyed and have turned to the KBI to help them resolve their situation. In fact demand for our services has increased as time progresses.

Applicant: Llanfairfechan Foodbank
Title: Foodbank Project
Area: Conwy
Amount Requested: £2,500.00

Project Outline:

Llanfairfechan Foodbank, is run by the community for the community. The foodbank allows any person, for any age to attend, and receive food parcels, toiletries and often furniture, bedding etc. It is ran by a group of volunteers who set time aside to ensure Llanfairfechan’s community  members are not going without!

We are seeking asking funding to help and support the Foodbank service. Over recent months, we have seen an increase in numbers of people who are attending at the foodbank in need of food, toiletries, and often somewhere to go to see a friendly face and a cup of tea.

We closely with local PCSOs to improve quality of life for individuals living in the community, to steer people away from having to engage in criminal behavior to survive day to day life. The service we provide for the community is free and the door is always open for anyone to attend.
