Arrests in Wrexham drugs operation

Five people have been arrested today in a major operation targeting the supply of drugs in Wrexham.

Up to 50 officers took part in the early morning strikes at addresses across the town as part of North Wales Police’s Operation Lancelot which is tackling a local organised crime gang believed to be responsible for bringing heroin and crack cocaine into the area.

Homes in Y Wern, Hazel Grove , Wyndham Gardens, Hullah Lane, Tryweryn Place , Portlal Avenue and East Avenue were targeted.

Chief Inspector Stephen Roberts said; “ The operation has been five months in the planning and is ongoing. We are investigating a Wrexham- based organised crime gang supplying heroin and crack cocaine .This criminality causes so much misery for people and I would like thank the community for the intelligence and support they have given us to enable us to carry out this operation."

The suspects have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and are currently in custody.
